Safety Bus

A realistic Guide to life at UCLan - written by students!

Comments from students...

Another great service is the safety bus, which will take you home from the library and runs all night.  The safety bus takes students home within the PR1 and PR2 postcode areas (which are the areas that most students reside in) and is free of charge.  It is is for all students but will prioritise lone females so a group of you may have to wait for the next trip. You can pick up a timetable leaflet from the library itself. Lots of students use the safety bus too, but one student has a complaint:

“The Safety Bus is brilliant although they wouldn’t let me take my burger on when I was trying to get on the other day. Gutted!”

The safety bus is for the benefit of the students and does not generate any income, the SU and the university don’t need the additional costs of cleaning up after drunken students eating away at the safety bus budget! Eat your burger in the burger bar then get the bus, there are lots of speed humps in Preston and for a mini bus this makes for a bumpy ride and you don’t want to drop your beloved late night snack.

There a code of conduct for use of the safety bus so make sure you follow it and never ever be abusive to the driver!
