How to keep fit and healthy at uni
"Advice I wish I’d been given is to make an effort to eat right. Eating takeaways, drinking loads, and sticking to pizza, toast and cheesy pasta leads to gaining weight, feeling tired and cranky. Eating when bored or doing work was my biggest downfall so I opt for healthy snacks now. The market in Preston is great for fresh fruit and veg and is not expensive." - Ciara Palomino, Public Relations, 3rd year, age 21.
Many students come to university and become unhealthy or pile on the pounds because they don’t exercise, they drink a lot, eat takeaways or lots of processed foods. Many students have a poor diet because they are so busy they can’t find the time to cook or they just don’t know how to. For many it is very hard to juggle university with life, whether it be work, family life or other responsibilities.
The nights out for many are a big part of university life and there is no reason why they shouldn't be, but no one likes a lecture if they a hungover or if their body is running of rubbish from a poor diet. In this section you will find advice on keep your body healthy, easy and quick recipes and handy hints for managing your food and cooking.
