Juggling life and uni
A realistic Guide to life at UCLan - written by students!

At times I’ve found it difficult to keep on top of all of my assignments and reading while keeping my friends and social life happy. Finding the right balance is letting me get my work done, as well as going out, on various socials and friend get-togethers, to enjoy myself.
Uni is meant to be enjoyed and experienced, don’t forget that, but remember, especially in your second and final year, grades count. Taking on too much in your life often means that one aspect suffers, with uni work, a job, a social life, as well as clubs and societies I, even in my final year, can still find it difficult to fit everything in, and I study event management! I think being realistic about what you can accomplish in a day and what needs to be done and then organising your life around that should help. I’m not talking about planning what pants you will wear for the next month, but something similar. For instance, I always make sure my assignments are in on time, they may be rubbish, as I have often found myself pulling all-nighters, which I wouldn’t advise, but I get them in. I can’t tell you how to run your life, but working to some kind of schedule and having a diary, I know, really helps keep everything running smoothly.
