tarting uni can be daunting and so getting your basic skills in check before you start may help you ‘hit the ground running’.  Learning a new subject can be a bit of a headache at first as there is a lot to take in. Knowing that you are at least equipped with the basic skills can build your confidence and ease stress.

You may not be studying a subject which requires skills such as maths although these skills are key in the world of employment and will really help your employability once you graduate. The graduate world is a competitive place and so getting a head start is the best way to make sure you are the brightest star in the graduate galaxy!! 
                                                                  
http://www.keyskills4u.com/ - This website is an excellent resource for application of number, communication and ICT.  You can check your skills, use the tutorials to fill any gaps in your knowledge and apply your knowledge with fun games and tasks.

Mathcentre is an excellent website and has a numeracy refresher for those who want to brush up on their numeracy skills. 

Math.com - This website is great for learning maths.  The basic maths section covers addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, number notation, interest, constants, fraction-decimal conversion, units and measurements conversion.  There are related activities and a games section with fun sames such as suduko and other maths puzzles.  There is also a handy study tips section which gives some helpful advice about math anxiety, study and test tips and a section giving advice on careers in maths.

BBC Skillswise is a really good resource for learning basic maths.  The sections whole numbers,  measures, shape and space, handling data, fractions, decimals and percentages. There is also a games section to have some fun and test your knowledge.

maths online is a gallery of multimedia learning material suitable for school, college and university level mathematics.   The website also has interactive tests for you to have a go at and test your knowledge.
