A realistic Guide to life at UCLan - written by students!
...with the 'futures' Award!
Short and sharp on line writing course – the best way to rev up your writing
Just imagine feeling confident and competent about writing for on line or web purposes. An innovative course, part of the brilliant new 'futures' award, can really go some way to making your writing zing. It’s a great chance for you to learn what you need to know through compelling, informative and interactive learning.
The first module, Writing for Website/Online Communication, blends;
• practical tips for writing short online journal articles and
• the opportunity for critical and supportive feedback from other student writers and course tutors.
The module is the perfect sandwich – two short workshops (four hours in total) covering the basics of internet writing - the bread and butter stuff. The workshops will take place on the 20 October 2009 5-7pm and 24 November 2009 5-7pm.
Between workshops you will enjoy four hours of online training and learning (the filling) to develop your writing through really useful exercises. In the discussion/feedback forum you will review others’ writing and in turn have your own writing reviewed by your co-students – an intense and illuminating experience which will cost you nothing in financial terms.
They say there’s no such thing as a free lunch but as this course is free, you could say that you’re getting a free sandwich.
The second module, Creative Writing for On Line Journalism, follows a very similar delivery format to the first. It looks at the more creative approaches for writing for the web and runs in Semester two. The workshops will take place on the 21 January 2010, 5-7pm and 4 March 2010, 5-7pm in the 'futures' centre Seminar Room. The four hours of on line traning wil take place inbetween.
One module leads to the other - the first focuses on the basics and the second takes the writing to another level.
