I am going to give you the reader a few tips about getting the work experience that you want.

The five golden rules...

Rule one; only apply for work experience that you are really interested in, if you are excited to be taking it on the work then the organisers will see your enthusiasm and be more inclined to take you on.

Rule two; do not lie or exaggerate when filling out an application form, if the organisers are interested in it then they will look into everything that you have said you can do or have done. They shall pop quiz you on every aspect of your application and if you’ve lied or stretched the truth, they will find out.

Rule three; do the research, if you have applied for a work experience placement that you need to do further research for, and then do the research as soon as you are able to. For example, for an announcer I need to research all the countries that are playing in the world cup, and learn how to pronounce all of their names.

Rule four; practice makes perfect, if you are doing a job that you haven’t ever done before or are worried about how well you will be able to do the job then practice. For example, I have never done announcing before, so I go to different sports games and practicing announcing whilst standing on the sideline.

And finally rule five; just be yourself and try to enjoy the experience, don’t try to be someone that you not in an attempt to impress someone else. At the end of the day you don’t know how long they are going want to keep you on for and do you think you could keep up a false personality for a week? Also you are who you are and you shouldn’t have to change yourself for any job, work experience or person. Just be yourself completely and they might just love you for it!
