Walking

A realistic Guide to life at UCLan - written by students!

It’s just so neat to use your feet! (sorry)

It is fairly easy walk to UCLan from the bus station and the train station and both journeys take about ten minutes.

Walking is a cheap and easy way of getting out and about around Preston - plus it can help you keep healthy.

The campus is close to the town centre as well as two parks: Avenham Park and Moor Park.  Avenham Park is in the city centre near the train station and runs along the River Ribble.

The park is a lovely place for a walk or just to have a chill should you fancy that. The park has some good cycle routes and attractions such as the fountain area and a Japanese garden area.

Moor Park is on Garstang Road (about ten minutes walk from campus) and is a good spot for a walk or some relaxation.  The park is also used for sports such as football and cricket and has basketball courts which are free to use.

Remember, this park and all parks in general are safe during the day but it is not advisable to go walking in the parks at night and definitely not alone!
