Many students use this service at Preston Campus and the service is also available at Burnley Campus.

Here are some experiences of students who have used this service:

A Sports Science student used The ‘i’ several times during his time at university:

I visited The ‘i’ many times whilst at uni, generally for all those queries when I didn’t really know who to speak to or where to go for things such as council tax, course enquiries and accommodation issues. It was quite refreshing not to be passed from pillar to post, but rather to have my problem dealt with in one place. The staff were always polite and knowledgeable, and were approachable no matter what my query.

A Media Production student tried his departmental office first but was referred on to The ‘i’:

I needed a letter for my bank in order to open up a bank account.  I went to my department office who were unable to write this for me.  I eventually tried The ‘i’ who were able to do this meaning I was then able to open a student bank account.  If I had gone straight to The ‘i’ I could have opened my student account sooner which would have eased financial pressures by allowing access to an interest free overdraft.

A  Forensic Science student who graduated in 2003 explains life before The ‘i’:

I found the first few weeks at uni quite difficult. It would have been so much easier to have one place where you could ask about everything that you needed, with people who can answer you there and then, or are up-to-date with where you have to go for what you need.

There is no such thing as a stupid question! The ‘i’ will try their best to answer any of your questions.  Although they won't be able to solve all your prolems, they will be able to put you in touch with the people who probably can!
