TAG UCLan - The Alternative Guide (to UCLan)

futures award

A realistic Guide to life at UCLan - written by students!

Launched in 2009, UCLan's brand new futures award  is available to all undergraduate students and gives you credit for all the hard work you put into making yourself employable. Complete a minimum of 20 credits in addition to your degree and you’ll walk away with a University Certificate that demonstrates to employers just how industrious, motivated and fantastic you are.

There are several ways that you can gain credit towards the futures award. You may be able to get involved through activities you are already doing as part of your degree programme; alternatively, you can sign up and complete a mix of mini-modules, 10 credit or 20 credit modules. futures offers mini-modules in subjects such as writing skills, creative problem solving, presentations skills and effective task management. 10 and 20 credit modules can be taken under the subject areas of life skills, leadership and mentoring, career preparation, volunteering and community, going global, and enterprise and learning through work.

There is no set way of progressing through the futures award  – the path you take can be as individual as you are! Once you have registered for the award you will remain registered until you graduate. You can chose to take your futures award credits all at once, or you can spread them out across your time at UCLan.
