The wheels on the bus...
The University campus is about ten minutes walk away from Preston bus station. If walking from the bus station is not an option, then there are buses which stop near most university buildings. Generally, buses in Preston are wheelchair and pram accessible.
Unfortunately it could be suggested that public transport in Preston is a little disjointed! You will not find a bus from the train station that takes you to the University and the bus and train stations are at the opposite ends of the high street. Still if you can walk it, it keeps you fit and if not you can get a bus to the bus station then get another to the university.
The UCLan campus map includes information about where bus stops are near campus buildings. The map includes walking routes to the campus from the Preston bus and train station and the location of cycle racks around the campus. Preston also has two park and ride services should you be driving your car to Preston and you don’t fancy trawling the university car park trying to find a space (which can be a nightmare!!).
Stagecoach have taken over Preston Bus and so there have been some changes to bus services in Preston. It’s probably best to check out stagecoach’s service changes before you arrive to get full information of the bus services currently in operation in Preston. Stagecoach offer a Unirider bus ticket which is currently £85 per term and is available to students and staff at UCLan which is useful and helps save those pennies for another occasion!
Bus services to the Sports Arena:
The 88C bus will take you near to the Sports Arena, the nearest bus stop is on Cottam Way and is a five minute walk to the Sports Arena. Bus service 31 (Savick) also goes near the Sports Arena and is also a five minute walk from the bus turning circle on Savick Way. This bus service is really handy and doesn't just go to the Sports Arena it circulate both clockwise and anti-clockwise round Preston so if you would like to know more the check out the timetable!
