TAG UCLan - The Alternative Guide (to UCLan)

Health campaigns at UCLan

A realistic Guide to life at UCLan - written by students!

UCLan is a health promoting university with a steering group, working groups and a co-ordinator based in the Healthy Settings Development Unit.  The initiative seeks to identify issues that affect health and well-being, then brings staff and students together to develop responses by drawing on a range of internal and external skills.  Work is usually developed to include policy, training, campaigns, projects and developing services.  Some examples of current health topics include:

Healthy eating and exercise
Drugs
Mental health
Relationships
Sexual health
The Students’ Union and students have contributed to all aspects of this work and in the past students have volunteered or completed work that has become part of their academic course.

For information on how students have incorporated volunteering into their course, how you can get involved or for more details about the work of the Healthy Settings Development Unit, please contact Sharon Doherty on 01772 893761, email shdoherty@uclan.ac.uk or go online to www.uclan.ac.uk/hpu .
