Multi Faith Centre
A realistic Guide to life at UCLan - written by students!
You got to have faith!
Burnley Campus has a prayer room across from The ‘i’ reception (red reception area) although all UCLan students also have access to The Multi-Faith Centre on Preston Campus. The Multi-Faith Centre and Chaplaincies at the Preston Campus are located centrally, opposite the library’s entrance. They offer a ‘listening ear’ to students of all faiths or none. They have coffee lounge with a warm welcome and provide an oasis in the at times, bewildering world of the university.
Come in and feel at home!
Najmoenesa Parker, a mature Criminology and Law student uses the centre regularly…
“I mainly use this service to relax and to make use of the coffee area. I have found the facilities convenient, and am able to make use of the prayer facilities to pray on time. I use the centre between my lectures and the staff are always pleasant.”
Mohamed Saliem Parker is also a mature Associate Student and uses the centre for prayer and to meet people from all faiths…
“I benefit from the service by being able to pray on campus. I also find it enjoyable being able to relax with a cup of coffee, meeting different kinds of people from different faiths. It’s a great place to head to and chill out”
Touseef Ahmad studies Advertising. He wishes he had utilised the centre sooner…
“I needed somewhere to pray on campus only to realise after a few weeks that there is a centre to pray in. Previously, I was not aware where it was situated. If I had known earlier, it would have been convenient to pray on campus rather than going back and forward from home. Now I find it very easy to find time for prayer during studying hours.”
The centre isn’t just somewhere to go and pray although as you’ve heard, that service is definitely available. You can go there to find out about different faiths and meet new people in a calm, relaxing and welcoming environment.
