BBC RaW takes you through the basics of getting to know your computer and searching the internet. This site is great if you want to start from scratch and includes video tutorials and games to practice your knowledge.
BBC WebWise provides video guides for online sharing, watching TV online and getting online. BBC WebWise also has an online course which looks at hooking up your computer, web basics, filling out online forms, sending emails, finding out info online, online communities and internet safety. Microsoft provide online tutorials for Microsoft Office. The tutorials are self paced and there are practical sessions which you can use to test your knowledge. This handy website can be used to learn IT skills from scratch or to polish up your knowledge.
Skills4Study is an excellent resource which gives advice on IT skills and provides a handy glossary of terms. The website also looks at research using IT and IT skills for successful study.
Intute’s Internet Detective is a self paced tutorial which looks at online research skills and using the internet for academic purposes. The tutorial includes examples and practical exercises and well worth a look.
keyskills4u - This website covers basic ICT skills. You can check your skills, use the tutorials to fill any gaps in your knowledge and apply your knowledge with fun games and tasks.
