TAG UCLan - The Alternative Guide (to UCLan)

TAG grants

A realistic Guide to life at UCLan - written by students!

TAG is running a grant scheme to encourage students to get creative and produce a range of media rich content for TAG. The grants will be £250 vouchers for the LIS One Stop.

What do I need to do?

To apply for the grant students are required to complete an application form outlining their idea, explaining why it is suitable for TAG and why they should receive a TAG grant.  If the TAG Team feel the idea is suitable the student will be invited to pitch their idea to the TAG Team.  The TAG Team and the students will then agree on the final product and the student will be required to deliver the finished product in a timeframe agreed between the TAG Team and the student.  Once the item has been delivered and approved by the TAG Team, the student will be awarded the grant.

Vouchers must be spent by the 31st of July 2011, therefore completed projects must be submitted by the 18th of July 2011.

Requirements of the Grant

A reasonable amount of content must be produced to warrant the grant.  The content must be media rich - i.e. it must consist of an interactive item such as a game or a collection of or combination of film, animation, graphic design, images, etc. Written articles must be accompanied by additional media. Whether the suggested output is suitable amount of content will be agreed between the student and the TAG Team at the pitch.

Rules

Applications are welcome from all UCLan students.

The finished product must comply with the TAG Policy for Content and must be in a format that can be hosted on RedDot or films that can be uploaded to YouTube.  The TAG Team can advise on suitable file formats.

Students can select a topic currently on the TAG site or they can make suggestions as to what they feel should be on TAG.

Students can work individually or in groups but only one grant will be awarded per project.

In exceptional circumstances the TAG Team will consider awarding two grants per project is the output warrants it.

All students will be required to complete an IPR Agreement along with their application form.

Although more than one grant may be awarded to applications covering the same topic, to avoid a large amount of content produced on the same topic, the TAG Team may decline a grant application if they already have enough content on the topic area identified in the grant application. If more than one grant applications has been submitted for the same subject area before a grant awarded, the TAG Team will award the grant(s) to the best application(s).  If this situation occurs the applicant will be welcome to modify their application.  If the application is for the same topic area but in a different medium Students are welcome to discuss potential ideas
