Your 'futures' career
A realistic Guide to life at UCLan - written by students!
The Careers Team in Futures offers information, support, advice and guidance on career development, employability and enterprise. Advisers work from Futures in the Library Building and also with Course Programme teams, to give confidential advice and guidance to individuals and to deliver workshops, tutorials and presentations to student groups.
Many students use the service, let’s hear from a few about their experiences:
A first year combined honours student visited Futures for help:
“The Adviser helped me to clarify possible career options. It was reassuring to know that I could return if I needed further guidance.”
A student studying BSc Social Policy and graduated in 2006 says:
"I was stuck in which direction to take and after talking with an adviser this gave me a start."
A mature student, who graduated in 2007 with an MSc in Psychological Research Methods said:
"Thank you very much. As a mature student I didn't expect to ever need your services but I did and they were a great help."
A student studying BA (Hons) Public Relations wishes she had used the service sooner:
“I am coming to the end of my course and although I have had lots of career advice from my course and lecturers, I feel that it would have been better for me to speak to a careers adviser on a one-to-one basis earlier to help me find a career focus”
Futures is part of the Centre for Employability, Careers and Enterprise and is open to all UCLan students and graduates to access.
Good luck to everyone with their future careers.
